Coupes got a wider "B" Pillar

A new verticle Grill was added.
Tail lights now had a horizontal black bar across them.

New more rounded front bumper
and grill surround was added. headlights were more
recessed.
The rear also got new bumpers and the tag was moved to the
bumper. Tail lights were slightly changed, to a more solid red
lense (simular to 1983).

Front Grill got more elongated
horizontal openings in the egg-crate. The back-up clear lense now
extends full width from tail light to tail light.
GT with new lower cladding and unique front and rear bumpers were added.
The high-mounted third brake light was added per gov't req'mts

composite (flush) headlights. All models got a grill that had
horizontal bars
Coupes got a new rounded rear roof and rear glass line, which would
later be matched ont he 1989 and up sedans

headlight treatment and grill.

New rear rounded styling for
sedans now matched the 1987 coupe styling. This was the only time
the sheet metal of the A-Body Olds was changed. All other changes
were trim and grill changes.
Coupes tail lights were graphed onto the existing sheet metal, sedans
got all new sheet metal at the rear (panels, lights, trunk. etc.)
Front Grill switched to vertical bars.
